Prof. Dr. Abidin Kumbasar was born in Erzurum, Türkiye, in 1932. He is the son of Dr. Sami Kumbasar, a well-known physician from the distinguished Kumbasar family of Rize.
He completed his primary, secondary, and high school education in Ordu, Samsun, and Çorum, where his father was serving as a physician. In 1950, he entered the Istanbul University Faculty of Medicine and graduated with his Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) degree in 1956.
Following military service, he pursued specialization in Internal Medicine at Ankara University Faculty of Medicine. Throughout his distinguished academic career, he made significant contributions to both Internal Medicine and Cardiology, combining clinical excellence with academic leadership.
