Manual therapy is a specialized hands-on treatment technique used by physical therapists to evaluate and treat musculoskeletal conditions affecting the muscles, joints, ligaments, fascia, and spine. It includes a range of evidence-based techniques such as joint mobilization, spinal mobilization, soft tissue mobilization, myofascial release, and, when clinically appropriate, manipulation.
As part of a comprehensive rehabilitation program, manual therapy aims to reduce pain, improve joint mobility, restore normal movement patterns, decrease muscle tension, and enhance overall physical function. Treatment is individualized based on each patient's condition and clinical assessment.
