Ultrasound (US), also known as sonography, is a safe, non-invasive imaging technique that uses high-frequency sound waves to create real-time images of internal organs, blood vessels, and soft tissues. Because it does not use ionizing radiation, ultrasound is considered a safe diagnostic tool for patients of all ages, including pregnant women when medically indicated. It is commonly used for pregnancy monitoring, the evaluation of abdominal pain, and the diagnosis and follow-up of a wide range of medical conditions.
